Graphic Design Consultant for AgriPay Program

I.  Background
The AWM, a shared payment platform that enables microfinance institutions (MFIs) to offer real time financial products and services for their clients through digital channels. Through the platform, MFIs are able to offer bill payments, remittances, and collections, and also incoming international remittance.
 
The VISA-NET Hope funded AgriPay Program is designed as a financial inclusion program that will address the challenge of making financial services available at scale and at affordable prices commercially in remote areas and lean markets. Agripay Program has used AWM, a digital payment system and mobile technology, to enable MFIs to offer new, cost effective, efficient and scalable solutions to address these challenges.
 
It is expected that the use of AWM by MFIs will bring convenient and affordable digital, real time payment service to the farmers for the first time, increasing financial inclusion and business opportunity that can drive greater efficiencies in the value chains while contributing to increased food security.
 
The AgriPay Program will achieve three primary results including:
1.      Work with 5 MFI partners in Bali Province directly serving farmers with a minimum accumulation of 2,500 direct beneficiary small holder farmers, of which expected at least 30% to be women.
2.      Generate 18,000 transactions over a period of 5 months pilot project, and its expected growth to 1.4 million transactions by small holder farmers (SHFs) within three years of rollout.
3.      Produce an E-book on AgriPay which will include a case study that highlights specific examples of the products and demonstrate how the service was able to meet the needs of farmers and drive digital payments in rural areas. This ebook will be used with various audiences including other NGOs, partner organizations, donors and other key stakeholders.
To develop the design and layout of the Agripay’s E-book, AgriPay Program is seeking individual graphic designer who can provide technical assistance and support for conducting a design and layout for the Agripay’s E-book.  

Key Activities
§      The graphic designer is required to undertake a range of tasks related to the design and layout, and finalization of the AgriPay’s E-book to be ready for publishing electronically.  
§         In consultation with the AgriPay team and the Communication Team of Mercy Corps Indonesia, the consultant will develop and finalize the visual design for the E-book of AgriPay.
§         Provide rough graphic design proposals, including suitable photos, with a few alternative drafts for approval.
§         Complete assigned design projects according to specified deadline.

Deliverables
§         Draft designs, illustrations and visuals for AgriPay’s Ebook
§         Revised design/layouts of the E-book based on feedback from the AgriPay Team.
§         Final design and layout that is ready to be uploaded on the website.
 
Timeframe
The Consultant shall complete the duties described in the scope of work from January 5  – 25, 2015. Mercy Corps will provide the consultant with all relevant materials both texts and photos.
 
1st week: rough design and layout
2nd – 3rd week: finalization design and layout of the AgriPay’s E-book after approved by  the AgriPay Team.
Compensation and Payment
The Consultant will receive compensation for services provided under this agreement, with a maximum of 15 days period of work.
Mercy Corps will pay the Consultant after receiving the Consultant’s deliverables, as noted above.
 
Criteria of Selection
§         The consultant has a minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting design and layout for communication products.
§         Excellent knowledge of the relevant design and desktop publishing skills and software such as Page Maker, PhotoShop, Corel Draw, Illustrator, and In Design  
§         Extensive publications layout and design experience and has a strong graphic design, Illustration and visualization skills.
§         Exposure to communication products and or e-book of international development agencies.
§         Knowledge of development issues and understanding of digital payment services is an asset
