SCI seeks Project Officer based in Malang



Save the Children is an international NGO and the world’s top independent charity for children in need. Since 1919, we have been fighting for children’s rights, saving their lives and providing hope for brighter futures worldwide.  In Indonesia, Save the Children currently works in eleven provinces, has staff of approximately 190 local professionals, and programming in Child Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Humanitarian Response.  Save the Children in Indonesia is seeking to fill the following position:



PROJECT OFFICER
1 position, based in Malang

The Project Officer for GAIN-BADUTA Project will be responsible for the implementation of BADUTA project in Malang. S/he will manage all project implementation in the field, to ensure optimum results and smooth functioning of field offices.

Reports to: BADUTA Project Manager
Dimensions: The Project Officer BADUTA will responsible for mobilizing and building the capacities of target communities, local government, providing technical assistance, to ensure high quality of implementation of project activities. S/he will liaise, responsible to maintain good relationship to all key stakeholders and act as the focal person to the BADUTA Project in his/her designated areas/districts. S/he will contribute to technical development of training materials with consultation with Nutrition Specialist, Senior Program Manager Health, and Project Manager, and responsible for monitoring of implementation quality, involving children and community members. S/he will report to the Project Manager.

Budget Responsibilities:
  1. Able to make some decisions in line with the context of BADUTA project in order to ensure timely and effective implantation of BADUTA project activities under consultation with BADUTA SPM.
  2. Responsible for financial decisions as determined in the scheme of delegation and in consultation with the BADUTA PM.
  3. Under the delegation and consultation with BADUTA PM, represent the project in his/her absence in designated areas/districts.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
       Project implementation
  • Contribute in the set up and develop of program tactics and techniques for monthly, quarterly and annually, collaboration with other personnel in the team.
  • Plan and carry out the BADUTA project activities against detail implementation plan in timely manner and based on day-by-day operational activities. Ensure close collaboration with Project Manager, Nutrition Specialist, Project Assistant, and MEAL Officer and support team in various aspects of project including inputs, technical assistance, Training of Trainer and serial trainings, mentoring and other activities of BADUTA program.
  • Assist Nutrition Specialist on mobilizing communities, beneficiaries and other government and non government stakeholders to be involved in development process, and maintain good relationship, communication and coordination with community leaders and government key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate community meetings and socialization the program with posyandu, kelas ibu, stakeholders, community and local government.
  • Under the lead of BADUTA PM, coordinate all M&E activities within his/her jurisdiction including supports data collection both quantitative and qualitative in close collaboration and coordination, drafting monthly, quarterly and annual reports as per donor and Save the Children requirements with MEAL Officer.
  • Ensure close collaboration with local stakeholders including establishing and developing strong and effective relationships with key district government officials and non-governmental stakeholders and in implementation of all project activities.

       Child Safeguarding Policy Responsibilities
  • Support BADUTA SPM in ensuring full compliance of CSP at district level.
  • As a member of staff, understand compliance with CSP and work in coordination with colleagues to comply with CSP.
  • In the lead of BADUTA Project Manager, respond to all CSP concerns expressed or discovered appropriately and effectively.

    Emergency Response Management
    Coordinating all related with Financial and Budget Management when responding any potential emergencies in Malang and Sidoarjo, East Java.

     QUALIFICATION:
  • Minimum S1 from Nutrition or equivalent in relevant fields.
  • Minimum 5 years working experience with Government and non-Government organizations in the area of nutrition and/or child health.
  • Proven skills on community development and mobilization and work closely with key stakeholders.
  • Have experiences work in East Java (desirable).
  • Ability to problem solve, show initiative and work independently
  • Respond to requests, queries in timely manner
  • Good information sharing/communication skills
  • Attention to detail, particularly with regards to expense transactions and financial reporting.
  • Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches.
