PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
In collaboration with the National Tuberculosis Programme (NTP) and WHO Tuberculosis (TB)
team members and under direct supervision of MO TB and WR Indonesia, the incumbent will
be focal staff to provide support for DOTS implementation and promote rational TB drug use
including linkages for Tuberculosis Control in Indonesia.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME:
The World Health Organization (WHO) is supporting the Ministry of Health (MoH) collaborative
program in Indonesia to promote appropriate organization and effective operation of a
comprehensive Tuberculosis Control Programme according to country context and in line with
Regional and Global approaches and develop plans for implementation and help NTP in
execution of monitoring and evaluation of TB control activities.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT and MAIN DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED:
The incumbent will be responsible for assisting National TB Programme/Ministry of Health for
quality DOTS and its implementation in hospitals and help establish models in public and
private sectors for TB control while ensuring that these are in line with WHO recommendations
and NTP/MoH long term plans.
The incumbent collaborates with government all concerned departments, related programmes,
bilateral and voluntary agencies to facilitate promotion of NTP policies and exchange of
information.
The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment in the application of WHO Policy
guidelines and programme objectives as approved through the resolution of the World Health
Assembly (WHA), Executive Board and the Regional Committee, and as contained in various
publication and project documents, e.g. General Programme of Work, Technical Report Series
for TB, Global and Regional Strategies for Health for All, WHO Manuals, Staff Rules and
Regulations, SEAR Handbook.
Summary of assigned duties :
1. Support the National TB Programme (NTP), Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia
(MoH RI) for quality
DOTS;
2. Support DOTS implementation in hospitals and help establish models in public and
private sectors;
3. Support the NTP Health System Strengthening (HSS) initiatives including ; Practical
Approach to Lung Health (PAL) and Tobacco Free Initiative;
4. Support TB Diabetes, Nutrition component of the programme;
5. Help promote rational TB drug use including linkages and collaboration with BPOM
(Food and Drug Administration), Binfar (Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services), and the IPA
(Indonesian Pharmacist Association);
6. Establish and maintain regular and need based coordination with WHO SEARO and
HQ and other concerned agencies;
7. Maintain coordination and regular communications with Directorate of Communicable
Diseases MoH, National TB Programme, and other relevant directorates/sub Directorates of the
Ministry of Health;
8. Close liaise with NTP, partners and other agencies to ensure that all TB related DOTS
and drugs are in line with WHO recommendations and national policies;
9. Coordinate with Stop TB partners, SEARO, and HQ on the above areas;
10. Perform any other duties as assigned by WR and MO TB.

technical issues;
5. Knowledge in programme planning and
implementation.
Education Qualifications: Essential:
University Degree in medicine from a recognized
institution
Desirable:
Post Graduate or advance qualification in tuberculosis,
chest diseases or public health is an asset.
Training in management and/or public health and/or
public health administration.
Excellent knowledge of spoken and written Bahasa
Indonesia and English.
Experience: Essential:
At least 2 years of experience of working with TB Control
and/or other related programmes in the development and
implementation of health programmes. Familiarity with
government structure and procedures, familiarity with
WHO policies and practices and working experience with
WHO or other UN Agencies at the national and
international level is an asset and will advantage.
Desirable:
Developing guidelines and national strategic planning,
roadmap of the programme, working and coordinating
with multiple partners.
Languages: Intermediate knowledge of reading, writing and speaking
in English.
Other Skills (e.g. IT): Understand computer based data analysis.
