The Indonesia Business Council
for Sustainable Development (IBCSD) seeks an Engagement Manager for Conflict
Resolution Unit (CRU) to develop and lead the
Initiative’s stakeholder management and communications strategies. The CRU builds
on IBCSD’s unique convening role, and success will largely depend on the
ability to attract and productively engage targeted partners. The Engagement Manager
will be expected to play a key role in building and maintaining strategic
relationships with industry, government, civil society and academic
stakeholders.
Specific duties and responsibilities of this position include:
1. Designing
and implementing a partnership development strategy including identification,
outreach and relationship building with stakeholders critical to program
objectives
2. Supporting
overall program strategy and development, providing input and guidance on
potential stakeholder involvement, opportunities, and limitations
3. Designing
and delivering a comprehensive communications strategy that will likely include
targeted outreach, email lists, newsletters, website development, conference
and networking event participation, event design and hosting, and other
activities with the goal of developing abroad network of industry, government,
civil society and academic stakeholders
4. Coordinating
and communicating closely with existing and new partners on a day-to-day basis
5. Soliciting,
managing and monitoring feedback from partners and stakeholders for use in
strategy development and performance improvement; synthesizing feedback for
submission to the Program Manager and use in evaluation and reports
6. Preparing
and designing communication materials including program promotional documents,
issue-brief summaries, and related materials
7. Developing
and maintaining contact database (with support from the Program Assistant)
8. Supporting
the Program Manager in the preparation and delivery of presentations at meetings
and workshops; ensuring messages are aligned within the program and support
program goals
9. Supporting
the Program Manager in the planning, organizing, and facilitation of events
10. Contribute
to the development and delivery of reports to stakeholders and the donor
11. Undertaking
other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The preferred candidate will
possess the following qualifications and experience:
1. At
least five years of demonstrated experience building networks, coalitions
and/or partnerships
2. Bachelor
or Master’s degree in communication, business, marketing, public relations, or
international relations
3. Previous
leadership in the development and implementation of partnership and public
relations strategies
4. A
strong network of government, the private sector, and civil society actors with
particular relevance to the plantation and forestry sectors and/or sustainable
practices
5. Excellent
verbal and written communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English
including interpersonal communications, public speaking, media communications
and materials design and production
6. Experience
working closely with diverse partners including private sector, government, and
civil society stakeholders
7. Political
awareness and the ability to discuss sensitive subjects in a productive manner
8. Knowledge
of stakeholder engagement strategies and methods, consultation processes, and
consensus building techniques
9. Background
and domain knowledge regarding environmental conflict resolution, the
plantations and forestry sectors, and/or national and regional laws and
policies related to natural resource management
10. A
strong commitment to promoting sustainable natural resource management
11. Strong
organizational skills and ability to work independently
12. Good
attention to details, work well under pressure, and able to think
strategically.
