Request for Proposal (RFP) Review and Modification of The Existing Training Modules for Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFAS) for School-Going Adolescent Girls

Nutrition International (previously Micronutrient Initiative, MI) is an international Non-Government Organization (NGO) dedicated to ensuring that the world’s most vulnerable – especially women and children in developing countries – get the vitamins and minerals they need to survive and thrive. With headquarters in Ottawa, Canada MI maintains regional offices in New Delhi, India and Nairobi, Kenya that manage our country offices in Asia and Africa..

Nutrition International (NI) is implementing MITRA Youth, a project supporting Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFAS) for prevention and reduction of Iron Deficiency Anaemia (IDA) among school-going adolescent girls, in selected districts in two provinces of Indonesia: East Java and East Nusa Tenggara. MITRA Youth is funded by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia. The program strategy proposes to improve the capacity of the Puskesmas staff and school health teachers on effective planning, monitoring, management, and appropriate counselling to school-going adolescent girls on WIFAS, and nutrition education and counseling.

The training module on WIFAS program for school adolescent girls has been developed during the NI demonstration project in Cimahi and Purwakarta district which is based on a competency-based curriculum. It will be reviewed and modified to include relevant topics on Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) and gender. The training module will accommodate the capacity building that will be done in cascade training format, where Training of Trainers (ToT) for provincial stakeholders will be conducted; thereafter the trained personnel will further train the district level staff, who will in turn train the selected school health teachers and staff of Puskesmas. The training will be focused on WIFAS, health, and nutrition issues such as balance nutrition diet, dietary diversity and the importance of hygiene and sanitation practices.

NI is now seeking a consultant to review and modify the existing training modules.

The activity will be conducted between January-March 2018.
