Grants Program in Indonesia,
the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam to Reduce Plastics Pollution Entering
the Oceans
The
Municipal Waste Recycling Program (MWRP) is a four-year, USAID-funded
initiative to address the global problem of marine plastics pollution. The
Program provides grants and technical assistance to support promising municipal
waste management and recycling efforts in Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka,
and Vietnam, countries which currently are experiencing problems with plastics
waste entering their marine environments. Indonesia joined the Program in
January 2018.
The
Municipal Waste Recycling Program awards grants of USD 50,000 to USD 250,000 to
support innovative and/or scalable solid waste management and recycling
activities that will promote social inclusion, generate jobs and economic
growth, reduce plastics pollution, and strengthen climate resilience.
The
Program is open to registered Indonesian non-governmental organizations, for-profit
companies, universities, associations, cooperatives, and U.S. and international
non-governmental organizations. Government
entities are not eligible to receive MWRP funding.
Grant
applications or concept notes are being accepted on a rolling basis.
Applications will be reviewed each quarter. The deadline for the next round of
submissions is March 31, 2018. To obtain
