  1. DIRECTOR OF PHILANTHROPY
The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for the oversight, planning and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program that secures the significant financial resources from individuals to support YKAN Strategic Plan. S/he will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the program by conceiving, developing, and managing plans and strategies. S/he focuses on long-range strategic priorities and establish and monitor activity level benchmarks and measures of success. S/he serves as the primary owner for business processes and guidelines related to the work of the teams under his/her supervision. S/he manages the development and implementation of a strategic, integrated, and collaborative approach to maximize success, including organizing communications. S/he facilitates strategic dialogues with clients and senior-level stakeholders, probing to identify key issues and requirements, negotiating and developing solutions, and synthesizing a plan of action tailored to audience.

The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for a portfolio of qualified donors and building strong relationships.  Her/his responsibility includes increasing funding from high net-worth individuals through effective identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.  S/he understands and applies complex principles of developing donor strategies and builds strong relationships with a portfolio of new donors and prospects. The Director of Philanthropy provides opportunities for donors to receive recognition and increase future giving. S/he involves and engages appropriate partners in the field and at the Worldwide Office, keeping them apprised of interactions, issues and/or concerns, and addresses questions as needed. S/he is capable of featuring the programs in detailed terms and can confidently discuss legacy giving opportunities.  S/he is required to develop proposals.  The Director of Philanthropy develops and manages resources and budget of the philanthropy department and ensure efficient and effective use of the approved budget.  S/he manages relations with key stakeholders including senior management, internal teams, and outside service providers to achieve program goals. 

The Director of Philanthropy reports to the Country Director and is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree and at least 8 years related experience like Marketing and/or Fundraising, including experience working at a senior level.
  • Experience with business development, banking, corporate social responsibility or corporate sustainability.
  • Knowledge on environment issues
  • Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents such as major donors and corporations.
  • Experience preparing and presenting project proposals and negotiating complex high profile or sensitive agreements.
  • Experience in conceiving, developing, and managing multiple projects and strategic goals.
  • Experience in planning and delivering budgetary responsibilities.
  • Experience managing and supervising a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working in a large, complex, not-for-profit environment.

        2.  DIRECTOR OF INDONESIA OCEANS PROGRAM

The Director of Indonesia Oceans Program oversees the Ocean program of Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara (YKAN) and provides strategic leadership and support key initiatives on integrated oceans management strategy of protecting oceans for enhance resilience and restoration of valuable ecosystem services for people and economies. S/he plays a lead role in fundraising and communication for this work and as relationship lead to relevant external partners, both private and public.  S/he establishes overall conservation priorities to maximize contributions to the Conservancy’s Shared Conservation Agenda and to guide design and implementation of the program in Ocean teams across Indonesia.

Duties and responsibilities may include:

Sustainable Oceans Fisheries Management
  • Advancing system-scale conservation and management of iconic large marine regions and protected areas across the country, climate mitigation and resilience through the conservation and restoration of oceans and coastal ecosystems coupled with “smart” development.
  • Advancing Indonesia’s fishery towards sustainability by enhancing the impact of the work through selected priority fisheries to create demonstration of a better design for a blue growth that combines actions to conserve habitats critical for the oceans ecosystem function and values, particularly mangroves, coral reefs, seagrass beds and fish spawning or nursery areas.
  • Promotes better choices for blue economic development in and around Indonesia’s coastal and marine areas and for more sustainable coastal and marine fisheries. 
  • Brings innovative technology and mechanisms to the program strategy to create impact at larger scale that combines financial and other incentive mechanisms for rewarding good stewardship with technical applications for effective monitoring and control, particularly for mangrove conservation and snapper, grouper and tuna fisheries management across Indonesia.
  • Increases the sustainability of YKAN work by bridging corporate responsibility with enabling policies for sustainable investment to our priority areas, that engages companies and authorities through public private partnerships for blue growth

 Leadership Capacity building (organization and teams)
  • Builds strategic, scientific, and technical capacity in the field, develops key partnerships with public private organizations in order to identify and resolve technical issues and to widely communicate solutions and best practices, and develops innovative scientific methods, analyses, tools, and frameworks to address the natural system needs.
  • Leads and manages a cross-functional team which designs, implements, and supports oceans and coastal conservation strategies.
  • Supports professional growth of oceans staff.
Secure Mobilize Resources (Funding)
  • Collaborates with fundraising staff to fundraise for key projects and priorities and play a leading role in donor identification and cultivation. This includes identifying and networking with the potential donors, both bilateral/multilateral as well as from corporations.
  • Explores and creates long term revenue streams to ensure effective management of coastal habitat.

The Director reports to the Country Director and is based in Jakarta. 

Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree and 12 years’ experience in conservation practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fundraising experience, including identifying donor prospects and donor cultivation.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and directing complex or multiple projects of strategic importance, including managing finances, supervising multidisciplinary professionals and coordinating the work of partners while meeting deadlines.  
  • Experience working with current trends and practices in relevant discipline(s) and geographic regions.
  • Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.
  • Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.   
  • Experience networking with high level conservation contacts.
  • Experience working with methods and standards of biodiversity information systems and initiatives.
  • Experience conceiving and implementing strategic and creative initiatives
  • Experience negotiating.       

        3..  VENUE OFFICER

The Venue Officer plans, negotiates, delivers and reviews the provision of high quality venues and events for the Membership Program so that key performance indicators and return on investment is achieved.  With guidance from the Membership Manager, s/he research, identify and contact decision makers at potential new venue locations for membership fundraising efforts. 

Duties include:
  • Maintain regular contact with decision makers at new and existing venues, managing business relations and explore further opportunities within each venue such as more rewarding pitch positions so that membership volume and return on investment increases.
  • Ensure all documentation and information required by venues and by Membership fundraisers are completed accurately and delivered in time, including risk assessments, passes, directions and special instructions to ensure all events are attended in an efficient and effective manner. This will increase return on investment through saved time, increased membership income and reduced risk of injury, damage and litigation to YKAN.
  • Upload all confirmed events/sites to the current YKAN venue database system to avoid duplication of venue bookings and to ensure the maximum coverage of areas is attained to.
  • Use negotiation skills to achieve discounts on venue costs to ensure return on investment is achieved and that expenditure stays within the annual event budget.
The Venue Officer reports to the Membership Operation Coordinator and is based in Jakarta.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-year related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in venue management and identifying productive venues
  • Experience with relevant technology such as Microsoft Office packages and spreadsheet skill relevant to the role.
  • Able to organize own workload and others including the diary management of multiple fundraisers.
  • Able to communicate at all levels and in a variety of situations..
  • Able to work under pressure and prioritize workload.
  • Proven ability to negotiate.
  • Tactful and diplomatic.
  • Experience providing administrative or project support.
  • Previous administrative experience relevant to this role, such as maintaining spreadsheets and accurate records.
