Background

The Tanoto Foundation is a philanthropic organization established by Mr. Sukanto Tanoto and Mrs. Tinah Bingei Tanoto to participate in poverty alleviation through three pillars: Education, Empowerment, and Enhancement.The Tanoto Foundation was built upon the belief of the founders that every human being deserves an equal right to obtain a better life. In doing so, they believe that the main pillar in getting a better life is through education.


The Tanoto Foundation Education Program aims to improve access to education and the quality of education. In improving access to education, scholarship programs are offered to students at all levels of education. In improving the quality of education, The Tanoto Foundation implements multi-faceted institutional strengthening initiatives to partners ranging from early childhood education centers to universities. Pelita Pendidikan Program is a multi-year school development program that has been implemented since 2010. To date, Tanoto Foundation has supported more than 300 schools, mainly primary schools, in 3 provinces, i.e. Jambi, Riau and North Sumatra provinces.

Along with the principle of continuous improvement, Tanoto Foundationplans to develop and expand its Pelita Pendidikan program starting in January 2018. The program will be working to improve access to quality primary and junior secondary school education in five provinces. The provinces are North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, East or Central Java, and East Kalimantan. The program will be working with central government, district governments, schools and teacher training institutes to build their capacity to support the provision of quality education. The program will be building on its previous working in North Sumatra, Riau and Jambi and adopting proven approaches to improving education quality similar of those developed under other national or international programs.

Tanoto Foundation is seeking staff with relevant capacity and experience as listed below to support the implementation of the program. Candidates should attach a letter of application, their curriculum vitae and indicate the CODE which they are interested in working.

Teacher & School Training Specialist (Junior Secondary)
East Kalimantan (1)

TSJ-EK
1.       Review and revise teacher and school management and leadership training materials
2.       Orientate other project staff in the materials and their use
3..       Plan, coordinate and supervise the selection of district training facilitators jointly with local government
4.       Plan and manage training of district facilitators
5.       Support and monitor the implementation of cluster/district level teacher, school principals and supervisor training
6.       Support and monitor the implementation of mentoring and teacher working group activities after training
7.       Identify future training needs and coordinate activities to develop new materials to address these needs
1.       Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in education or other related fields.
2.       Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in the education development sector, especially in teacher training and training materials development
3.       Willingness to travel frequently to provinces and districts
4.       Good English, both spoken and in writing.
5.       Good communications and interpersonal skills.
Communications Specialist
East Kalimantan (1)

CS-EK
Work under the technical direction of the Communications Manager in Jakarta to:
1.       Ensure that all project communications materials (videos, modules, presentations etc.) are ready and available for provincial staff that need them and support these staff in their use
2.       Support the development of communications materials to support national and provincial needs including:
·         Videos of good practices developed by the program
·         Provincial factsheet
·         Provincial newsletter
3.       Support and encourage staff and project beneficiaries to write stories documenting good practices for publication on the project website, in project newsletters and other publications
4.       Work to ensure regular media coverage of the project and its impact within the province and partner districts, including preparing press handouts and briefing media on project activities
·         Bachelors’ Degree in relevant field
·         Minimum 3 years’ experience in working in communications (print and/or digital)
·         Ability to use relevant IT programs related to video production and publishing
·         Good communications skills especially the ability to write logically and coherently
·         Experience in the education sector would be an advantage but not essential
·         Willingness to travel frequently to districts and schools
·         Good interpersonal skills and an enthusiastic attitude
Finance Officer
East Kalimantan (1)

MES-EK
1.    Review and process invoices from supplier and request for payments
2.    Ensure accuracy of information, tax implications, proper authorization and charging to budget components, and complete documentation in compliance with Foundation’s policy.
3.    Manage petty cash for supporting field operations, including review and process payments for office utilities and perform adequate controls over petty cash.
4.    Track financial transactions and payments made by Regional and Jakarta offices to ensure prompt payment of invoices.
5.    Monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures including prepare monthly report on reconciliation of bank statement, maintain the accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) systems locally in order to ensure aging of both A/P and A/R are conducted and liquidations of outstanding advances are done in timely manner.
6.    Assist with preparation of the program budgets and monthly forecast.
7.    Manage Foundation’s fixed asset, office inventory and project materials by conducting routine physical count, improving the function of stock card and produce periodic inventory reports

·         Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or Public Administration
·         At least 5 years of well-rounded working experience in accounting and finance;
·         Knowledge on Indonesia taxation or having experience in working with tax-related transactions will be an advantage.
·         Proficient in MS-Office especially MS-Excel and MS-Word, MS-Outlook applications.
·         Works well in multi-cultural environments, with high integrity and responsibilities
·         Good communication and interpersonal skills
