Terms of Reference

Dementia is a progressive degenerative disorder that attacks the brain’s nerve cells resulting in loss of memory, thinking, language skills and behavior changes.. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form while vascular dementia is the second.

 In Indonesia, the estimated number of people with dementia is approximately 1.2 million in 2016, will be increased to 2 million in 2030 and 4 million people in 2050. The economic cost for Indonesia as one of the middle-income countries is estimated to reach US$ 2.2 billion a year (Alzheimer’s Disease International World Alzheimer’s Report, 2016).
Alzheimer Indonesia is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality life of people with dementia and Alzheimer, their families and caregivers in Indonesia. Alzheimer Indonesia (ALZI) was established in Indonesia on August 3rd, 2013.. ALZI is supported by Alzheimer Nederland, Local Government of DKI Jakarta, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Affairs, the media, private sectors, communities and volunteers of various ages and professional backgrounds including Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Geriatricians, Lawyers, Health Communication Specialists, Students, etc. Alzheimer Indonesia’s programs focus on advocacy, awareness raising, capacity building, research and development, and strengthening the internal organization.

Projects Manager
Full-time position
Duty station: Jakarta
A. Responsibilities:
  •  Assist in the planning, coordination and arrangements for successful conduction of ALZI events and project implementation such as caregiver meeting, seminars/conferences, training, meetings (external and internal), presentations, and other: including travel and hotel arrangements, and trip itineraries.
  • Set up appointments/meetings with government stakeholders and partner organizations.
  • Handling administration and financial matters within project implementation.
  • Liaison officer for ALZI Headquarter (Jakarta) and chapters  
  • Collect and provide necessary information and contribute to the planning, organizing and developing of all aspects of each activities/event.
  • Ensure timely implementation of activities, in accordance with activity schedules request or issued by the Director/Manager.
  • Draft/type letters, faxes, as well as documents and forms related to each activity.
  • Take meeting notes and maintain an efficient filling system for all activity/event related records.
  • Write up event and programme reports
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by Director in relation with project implementation and daily management of the organization.

B. Required qualifications, competences and experience:

Professional experience:
  • Experiences in development project and/or organizations will be highly regarded.
  • Fresh graduates with relevant organizational, journalism or research experiences are encouraged to apply
Other knowledge, additional competences:
  • Good working knowledge of information technology (related software, phone, fax, e-mail, general internet)
  • Computer software skills (e.g. MS Office, including Word, Excel, Publisher)
  • Good knowledge on the role of mainstream media, social media as well as journalism aspect will be an advantage
  • Good management and organizational skills
  • Experienced in maintaining network with government and other project stakeholders.
  • Professional and assertive
  • Good communication skills
  • Good degree of proficiency in English, including both formal written and spoken
  • Good sense of humour is a must
  • Have the capacity to work independently as well as in a team
  • Willing to undertake field work/travel (including to rural areas) and work under demanding conditions
  • Ability to establish priorities and undertake assigned tasks with minimum supervision

C. Contract Period
  • Contract period of the Project Manager is one year with three-months probation period and could be extended thereafter.
