Openings at The Nature Conservancy Indonesia Program: FCC Specialist

YKAN has been supporting improved natural resource planning and management in Indonesia for more than 25 years, including work with governments, private sectors, and local communities.  For the past eight years, TNC has been supporting the development and management of the Berau Forest Carbon Program (BFCP), one of the key jurisdictional-based green development initiatives in Indonesia.

We currently have an opportunity for:
Forest Carbon & Climate Specialist (FCC Specialist) – for Jakarta office, Reporting to Production Forestry Sr. Manager
 
Essential duties:
The FCC Specialist will lead the implementation of RIL-C in East Kalimantan province to support the FCPF Carbon Fund and RIL-C scaling up to other provinces in Indonesia. S/he also will manage and coordinate the improvement of capacity of Forest Management Units (FMU) and logging concessions in implementing sustainable forest management, including field testing of FMU tools that have been developed by TNC to strengthen the FMUs in implementing sustainable forest management and their adoption by the East and North Kalimantan provinces. S/he coordinates closely with Improved Forest Management (IFM) Manager, FMU Specialist, as well as with terrestrial senior management team. S/he establishes and maintains partnerships at all levels.

Minimum Qualifications:
•     BA/BS degree and 7 years’ experience in sustainable forest management and forest carbon accounting.
•     Fundraising experience, including identifying donor prospects and donor cultivation
•     Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners.
•     Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance. 
•     Experience developing partnerships (private companies, community, and government).
•     Experience in forestry field work.
•     Experience in delivering training materials and building capacities of land managers
•     Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
•     Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English.
•     Experience negotiating.
