GGGI Indonesia is looking for a consultant for Environmental Economist

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) was established as an intergovernmental organization with the objective of promoting sustainable development of developing and emerging countries including the least developed countries. GGGI is dedicated to supporting the creation and diffusion of the model of economic growth known as “green growth”. The green growth model integrates economic growth, environmental sustainability, poverty reduction and social inclusion.

GGGI Indonesia is looking for an Environmental Economist to lead and carry out an economic analysis of opportunities and challenges within the forest sector, and in downstream sectors that depend on forest products and ecosystem services, along with an assessment of public and private investment needs. This analysis will include modeling, based on the agreed scenarios, and interpretation of results to support the formulation of development planning policies.

Requirements:
  • Advanced degree (Ph.D) or equivalent professional experience in economics or a related field with a strong focus on environmental economics.
  • At least 15 years of experience in qualitative and quantitative research related to forest economics.
  • Proven experience in assisting the government to develop forestry sector development planning, with expert knowledge and expertise in national forest policy.
  • Ability to secure collaboration and agreement from the partners, reflecting empathy of perspectives and identifying recognition of mutual/complimentary interest.
  • A strong network in Indonesia, especially with forestry practitioners, academicians, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and the National Development Planning Agency.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, both in Indonesia and English.
