Founded in
1979, Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental,
non-religious, and non-profit making organization that delivers programmes in
over 45 countries. Recognized worldwide as a leader in the fight against
hunger, our mission is to save lives through the prevention, detection, and
treatment of malnutrition, especially during and after emergency situations and
conflicts. Action Against Hunger had been now developed into Action Against
Hunger International network with headquarters in France, Spain, Canada, UK and
USA.
Action
Against Hunger has been active in the NTT district since 2007 since its first
established in 1999 in Indonesia in cooperation and partnership with the
Ministry of Health, local authorities and stakeholders. Around 40
networks have benefited from a renovation, as have water sources and wells. In
the Kupang District, Action Against Hunger now implements a range of integrated
community based programs in Nutrition and Care practices, Food Security, Water
Sanitation & Hygiene, Emergency response and DRR/Climate Change Adaptation
going from relief to recovery in order to address effectively the population’s
needs.
The
Sulawesi earthquake – tsunami on 28 September 2018 has resulted many thousands affected
people. Action Against Hunger is responding to the
emergency. For Palu emergency response we are currently seeking to fill the positions
of PSYCHOLOGIST SPECIALIST & WASH
SPECIALIST to be based in Palu (Central Sulawesi) with the following:

General Objectives:
Psychologist Specialist: Implement and supervise the mental health and care practices emergency
activities and monitor the activities of local
partners and provide feedback for project implementation
Water Specialist: Define and supervise the implementation of the WASH
projects and activities
of local partners and provide feedback for project implementation
Selection Criteria and Experiences:
- Degree as Clinical Psychologist (Psychologist Specialist) and Engineer and relevant field (Water Specialist)
- Humanitarian experience is NGOs
- Good experience in Project management, training capacity and technical supervision
- Experience in emergency settings and humanitarian crisis
- Good experience on capacity to analyse and have a global approach
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Psychologist Specialist:
-
Support and supervise the emergency Mental Health Care
Practices activities implemented by local partner by design a
detailed working plan, adapting the intervention to new field constraints.

Prepare training modules and
train local volunteer health workers/Local NGO to propose psychosocial support
to mothers and
families in distress and psychosocial activities to mothers and
children affected by the disaster and by acute malnutritio
- Ensure the evolution of the humanitarian situation as
concerns mental health and care practices
- Represent the organization when liaising with the
partners
- Ensure that confidentiality of data, property of
project beneficiaries and of ACF is strictly respected
- Organize and conduct regular team meetings with local
partner and propose technical training and supervison
- Submit progress report of the activities on monthly
basis
WASH Specialist:
- Support and supervise local partner
in organizating preliminary meeting to discuss the project design, and
establish the level of free
community participation
- Prepare technical training
regarding construction and implementation of WASH project for local NGO and
related stakeholders
- Provide supervision and participate with WASH Supervisor of local
partner to the technical assessment, final choice of the target
communities,
preparation and design of the water supply infrastructures
- Provide all necessary
training/explanation/advice to local NGO/contractors workers and communities
labours about ACF designs
before starting implementation of any technical work
- Provide all necessary
technical and physical support to the local NGO/contractors or the community
during all the construction
activities
- Represent the organization
and work in close coordination with local NGO and contractor to provide
technical support (design,
budget, estimate, construction, etc) for specific
task as GFS and ensure the result of the project related with ACF standard
- Submit progress report of the activities on monthly basis
