looking for an
Editor
(Consultant)
He/she will be responsible for finalizing the book content that is
error-free, typographical errors,
grammatical accuracy, and easy readability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Edit from a “big picture” perspective, ensuring manuscripts deliver on their promised value proposition
- Review book chapters, providing substantive edits or managing developmental editor to produce final manuscript.
- Copyedit book manuscripts collating editing marks as needed.
- Edit manuscripts at the sentence and paragraph level
- Manage proofreaders, collating marks onto master document for typesetter.
- Track and organize all versions of book outlines and manuscripts.
- Demonstrate proficiency in editing on paper with standard editing marks and electronically with Microsoft Word’s “Track Changes” feature.
- Work with typesetters and jacket designers to ensure that the manuscript and book files are ready for print.
- Make sure all written content is in line with organization’s message, statistics, tone and voice.
- Work with authors on manuscript deadlines
Ideal candidate will
have:
- Proven experience in book editing
- Bachelor's degree in literature or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, high energy, and the ability to successfully manage several projects at one time
