Background

The Strategic Partnership on Sustainable Diets for All (SD4All) was started by Hivos and IIED in 2016. This is one of the four programs of its Dialogue and Dissent strategic partnership with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The five-year program focuses on specific lobby and advocacy goals (influencing policies and practices of market and government actors) as well as on strengthening of advocacy capacities of civil society actors, specifically in the food sector. The long term goal is more sustainable, diverse, healthy and nutritious food available for low-income citizens.

In Indonesia, the first stage of the program involves multistakeholder platforms as well as relevant activities and public campaigns in Bandung City and Jember Regency. Hivos and IIED have established partnership with one local organization, namely Tanoker in Jember. With the start of Switch Asia Local Harvest programme in 2018, in which SD4All also contributes, Hivos has two new sub-grant partners whose parts of their works also contribute to SD4All targets, namely the Association for Women in Small Business Assistance (ASPPUK) and Non-Timber Forest Products – Exchange Program (NTFP-EP).
