The Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI) is
a partnership between the governments of Indonesia and Australia. It is funded
by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and implemented in
cooperation with the Ministry of National Development Planning/National
Development Planning Agency (Kementerian Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional/Badan
Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional, Bappenas).
KSI
supports Indonesian policymakers to develop more effective development policies
through better use of research, data, and analysis. The program works with
research providers and government agencies to strengthen the quality and
policy-relevance of research and how it is used for policymaking. KSI also
works to improve regulations and practices that support quality research and
make using evidence in policymaking easier.

Senior
Communication Assistant
Essential
duties and responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the Communications Manager, the Senior Communications Assistant plays a key role in supporting the preparation of communications material to increase the visibility of the Knowledge Sector Initiative and its partners and promote the use of evidence in policymaking.
- Assist the Communications Manager to produce communications materials to disseminate information to KSI’s target audiences, including Government, media, strategic partners, and the general public
- Support the Communications Manager to implement new communications initiatives, including acting as the gatekeeper for implementation of KSI’s branding guideline.
- Assist the Communications Manager to document project stories.
- Assist the Communications Manager to build relationships with media outlets and key communications partners that will lead to mainstream media coverage of KSI.
- Assist the Communications Manager to monitor news coverage of the program and its key issues from the media monitoring report.
Requirements:
Master’s degree
or Bachelor Degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience in communication,
knowledge management, international development, public policy, social
research, or a related field.
Skills & Abilities:
- At least 1 year experience working in preparing communications for outreach, knowledge sharing and advocacy including success stories, news releases, influence and advocate;
- A track record of establishing and managing relations with media;
- Excellent communication skills, including a proven ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of audiences;
- Ability to work closely and effectively with colleagues as part of a team;
- A high level of initiative and creativity as well as a pro-active and flexible approach to work;
- A good team player, ready to provide significant contributions to the team and deliver according to deadlines;
- Excellent presentation, communication and inter-personal / cross-cultural skills.
- Excellent Indonesian speaking and writing skills and advanced English writing skills;
- Experience working for DFAT programs is an advantage.
