The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as ICRAF) in Southeast Asiais the region’s leading agroforestry research-in-development organization whichgenerates science-based knowledge about the complexrole trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods. As part ofthe Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty andenvironmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration withpartners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendationsfor increased food security and ecosystem health.

The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and researchis conducted in 34 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We aresupported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research(CGIAR) and receive funding from over 50 different donors.

About the position

The Programme Management Unit Leader will lead the seamless Programme ManagementUnit team to effectively deliver their roles in bridging the Research Themeswith the Management Support Unit, communicating research findings and impactsfor outreach, and managing resource mobilization and research activities toeffectively use the resources with high accountability.

Requirements

·     Advanced education in Natural Resource Management or otherwisestrong experiences in research management, particularly in Natural ResourceManagement;

·     Strong experiences in developing public-private partnership in NRMand in managing sufficiently large projects in NRM;

·     Broad networks in Forestry, Environment, Development Planning andother related issues;

·     Key skills should include excellent project management, strongleadership, analytical and interpersonal skill, English written and verbalcommunication, coordination and collaboration skills, and capacity to manageself, and navigate ambiguity;

·     Experience in resource mobilization with proven track records;

·     Understanding in budgeting and financial management;

·     Capacity to apply critical and strategic thinking, synthesizevarious viewpoints, work collaboratively and manage team to achieve both long-and short-term objectives.

·     Minimum of 15 years’ experience in both profit and non-profitinstitution.



Personal Competencies

·      Well organized and proven ability to set andmeet deadlines;

·      Ability of setting priorities and workingunder pressure;

·      Ability of multitasking and managing severalactivities simultaneously;

·      Demonstrated effective written and verbalcommunication skills in English and Indonesian;

·      Knowledge of Ms office suite and other accountingand programme management software as well as ICT tools as imperative;

·      Willingness to learn new skills/knowledge anddevelop new networks related to the scope/content of the specified projects;

·      Excellent interpersonal skills and ability towork in multicultural teams.

·      Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team andmentor junior colleagues.

·      Ability to conceptualize and analyse conditionto identify key issues, underlying problems, and possible solutions.. 

·      Ability to generate creative, practicalapproaches to overcome challenging situations.

·      Ability to devise new systems and processes,and modifies existing ones, to develop innovative behaviours.
