WRI Indonesia is looking foe consultant as Reserach Assistant for Energy & Land Use portfolio

WRI work with various stakeholders in the natural resources sector to support policy and management that are both profitable and sustainable. Launched in early 2014, WRI Indonesia builds on WRI’s 10-year history in the country focusing on forests and land use governance and strengthens our impact on the ground. In the short-to-medium term, WRI Indonesia aims to expand its presence and portfolio to include climate, energy, as well as cities and transportation programs.
Job Summary 
As our Research Assistant, you will report to the Energy & Climate Manager and play a crucial role in the research aspects of a range of projects including:
Energy:
  • Various key initiatives on power sector transformation
  • Private sector mobilization to leverage demand in renewable energy
  • Energy-Marine-Health Nexus
Land Use:
  • Peatland restoration 
Job Responsibilities
Below is the breakdown of the responsibilities of the Research Assistant:
Research & Publications (100%):
  • Conducting research project related to energy and land use portfolio
  • Analyze large data sets, research market changes, and respond to project needs and inquiries
  • Assist in the analysis of energy trends, market policy and regulations to proactively identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, and advance sustainability.
  • Partner with stakeholders on site selection and project development across portfolio.
  • Work collaboratively with external vendors and consultants on regional market research.
  • Support the development of energy and energy-financial models and research to assist public and private cases.
  • Utilize your creativity, research and analysis skills to identify new opportunities. 
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
  • Hold bachelor’s degree in energy, climate, power sector, energy-economics, political science, land-use, forestry, international relations or any other related field.
  • Professional/University research experience of 1 - 3 years in energy and land use topics
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft product(s): word, excel, power point, notes and similar app of other products and/or brands
  • Very strong writing and research skills, excellent academic performance, as well as high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with or interest in Indonesian natural resources issues.
  • High integrity, passion for sustainable development, and good sense of humor preferred.
  • Familiarity or proficiency using GIS software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and fluency in oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Legally able to work in Indonesia
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized thinker with an ability to juggle multiple priorities, handle assignments independently, and work under tight deadlines.
Duration: The works will be conducted within 1 (one) year with possible extension depends on the working progress and performance.  
Consultant rate: Consultant rate is commensurate with experience and skills. WRI Indonesia offers a generous, comprehensive benefits package.
