The World Agroforestry (also known as ICRAF) in Southeast Asia is theregion’s leading agroforestry research-in-development organization whichgenerates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapesand rural livelihoods. As part of the Centre’s work to bring tree-basedsolutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – workingin close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, toolsand policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.


The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and researchis conducted in 34 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We aresupported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research(CGIAR) and receive funding from over 50 different donors.

About the position

Under the guidance andsupervision of the Regional Finance and Corporate Services Manager, the FinanceOfficer is responsible for the financial management of grants from start-upthrough close-out, ensure proper financial management, accountability,planning, and reporting in alignment with ICRAF policies and procedures, thegoals of the grant and the provisions of the grant agreement. This positionmust demonstrate strong experience in sub-grantee management, includingbuilding the capacity of local organizations and sub grantees in areas of grantcompliance, financial reporting, and accountability also provide detailedfinancial analysis, reporting, system and process development, training andsupport to international program funding. Coaching, advising, and enforcementare essential functions of this position.

Requirements

·        Minimumeducation Bachelor degree (S-1) in Accounting or Financial Management

·        Minimum of 5(five) years’ experience in accounting and grants management

·        Minimum of 2(two) years’ experience on managing staff

·        Excellentcommand of computer literate (on Window based-systems including Excel andACCESS)

·        Experiencein using Agresso is desirable

Personal Competencies

·        Excellent interpersonal skills and ability towork well in multicultural teams.

·        Good understanding of time management

·        Strong character, multitasking person and ableto work under pressure

·        Well organized; able to meet deadline

·        Willing to learn new skills/knowledge related tothe scope/content of the specified projects.

·        Good knowledge of negotiations
