UN Women

UN Women, grounded
  in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations,
  works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the
  empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men
  as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian
  action and peace and security. 
Unit/
  Project Background: 
UN
  Women Communications work on the implementation of the UN Women corporate
  communications strategy, as well as in design, management and implementation
  of the Country communications and publication strategies, which are geared
  towards awareness raising of gender equality and the empowerment of women,
  and promote public and media outreach, to include campaigns.   
Under
  direct supervision of the Advocacy and Communication Officer, the intern will
  be expected to provide support to the communication functions of UN Women..

Description of
  Responsibilities 
Within this framework, UN Women is offering the
  opportunity of an internship for 6 months in Jakarta, Indonesia. We are seeking
  a dynamic and proactive team player, with a strong interest in communications
  and gender equality issues. The selected intern will be expected to: 
Communication 
·       
  Support in planning and organizing campaigns,
  press conferences and other events; 
·        
  Support in developing communication materials,
  such as posters, brochures, fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, etc; 
·        
  Updating stories and events reporting of UN Women
  Indonesia to UN Women’s website; 
·        
  Contribute and ensure the visibilities of events,
  campaigns and key activities (drafting articles, taking photos, etc); 
·        
  Assist in media outreach, media inquiries,
  monitoring and maintaining press clippings of print and online media when UN
  Women is mentioned; 
·        
  Undertake general administrative assignments such as
  budgets, reports and proposal of campaign/ event arrangements; 
·        
  Assist the Advocacy and Communication Officer with
  any other relevant duties as may be assigned. 
Social Media 
·        
  Draft, prepare, and schedule content and posts for
  the social media accounts. 
·        
  Research additional content (articles/ news/
  posts) on women’s empowerment and gender equality and draft the post.   
·        
  Assist in the creation of editorial workplan
  calendar. 
·        
  Actively expand the network of followers. 
·        
  Monitor social media accounts, monitor mentions
  for retweeting, and cross-post selected content 
·        
  Manage and engage with followers. 
·        
  Monitor the social media accounts for questions
  and comments, and flag them to the Advocacy and Communication Officer. 
·        
  Create, produce or support the production visual assets
  (quote cards, multi-media graphics, social media video etc.). 
·        
  Support live tweeting from events. 
·        
  Listen to online discourse.

  equality and women’s empowerment.

  The intern will develop a good working knowledge
  of the communications function of UN Women as well as social media.

  seminars for learning purpose.

Qualifications 
Education: 
·        
  The
  intern must have studies in communication/ media studies, journalism, public
  relations, advertising, international relations or social sciences or other
  similar subject at the university level.  
·     
  Be
  enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or
  equivalent, or higher); Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first
  university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have
  graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the
  internship within a one-year period of graduation.  
Language: 
·        
  Excellent
  communication skills (written and oral) in English are required; Working
  knowledge of another UN language a distinct advantage  
Interns are not
  financially remunerated by UN Women.

In July 2010, the
  United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity
  for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women
  came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and
  mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of
  four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and
  UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women's empowerment 
UN
  Women Internship Policy: 
1.)
  Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of
  application meet one of the following requirements: 
(a)    Be enrolled in a graduate school
  programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); 
(b)   Be enrolled in the final academic year of
  a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
   
(c)    Have graduated with a university degree
  (as defined in (a) or (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the
  internship within a one-year period of
  graduation.
   
2.)
  UN Women internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for
  the internship;  
3.)
  All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern,
  sponsoring Government or institution;  
4.)
  UN Women accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or
  illness or death incurred during the internship;  
5.)
  The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel
  to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;  
6.)
  Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to positions in the
  professional and above category in UN WOMEN during the period of the
  internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of
  internship;  
7.)
  The intern must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan, proof
  of school enrollment, a scanned copy of his/her passport, two letters of
  recommendation, and application
