HSI Vacancy: Communications Officer for CREATE Program

 

Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial is an Indonesian organization affiliated with Hivos, born out of an active collaboration between Netherlands based Hivos and several like-minded Indonesian academics and civil society leaders who subscribe to the values and mission of Hivos. The purpose is to promote humanist values in the social, health, and cultural fields which is defined in terms of the ability for each individual to assess and decide independently and responsibly, the right to freedom, dignity and a passion to create a just and tolerant society.
Yayasan Humanis seeks qualified candidates for the position of:

Title :  Communications Officer for CREATE Program
Duty Station :  Jakarta, Indonesia
Report to :  Project Manager for CREATE
Duration :  6 months ( July to December 2021)


Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial supports the development of alternative solutions to deep seated problems so that individuals and communities can make responsible and equitable choices within political and economic systems that serve their needs. In 2019 - 2022, the organization implements a project called CREATE (Creative Youth for Tolerance) that aims to improve pluralism and tolerance in secondary education institutions (high schools) in West Java, East Java, and South Sulawesi funded by USAID Indonesia. The program adopts an innovative art and cultural based approach to strengthen tolerance among students, and enhance the role of parents, teachers, and art facilitators to support tolerance practice in school. CREATE is currently looking for an individual to become a Communications Officer for CREATE Program.

Functional Context
The Communications Officer is part of the project team and works with Project Officer CREATE, Activity Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (AMEL) Officer, the Yayasan Hivos’ Communications Officer, and partner organizations to develop communications materials content and ensure that all communication activities are aligned with Yayasan Hivos’ corporate communication strategy, values, identity, standards and formats as well as donor’s branding and marking procedures and standards.

Aim of the job
The Communications Officer assists Project Manager and teams in the communication dimension of CREATE; plans and implements communication framework to which the project performance adheres and positions it according to both Yayasan Hivos and project values, identity, standards and formats and tools for internal and external profiling and positioning. Within the partnership, the Communications Officer supports local partners in accomplishing deliverables and ensures they are aligned with the communication guidelines of CREATE project and donor’s branding and marking standards.

The Communications Officer is responsible to develop communication strategies, organize online and offline communication activities (e.g. in conferences, events), to develop and disseminate communication materials and enable Yayasan Hivos and its partners to communicate effectively. This includes but is not limited to: develop and write the project relevant content, such as stories and visuals (photos, illustrations, infographics, videos), for Yayasan Hivos and the project media channels.

Roles and responsibilities

The Communications Officer shall provide:
1. Preparation to gather basic information from all consortium member organizations and USAID guidelines; prepare necessary worksheets for initial information gathering; and development of brief outline of communication strategy and plan document.
2. Facilitation of communication and coordination with CREATE’s consortium members for the purpose of developing the communication strategy and plan document.
3. First and second draft of communication strategy and plan document (to be discussed and consulted with the program’s team and the consortium).
4. Final communication strategy and plan document.

The document of communication strategy and plan shall include the following but not limited to:
1. Introduction/Identified Objectives.
2. Target Audiences.
3. Key Messages.
4. SWOT Analysis.
5. Communication Methods.
6. Communication Strategy for Each Method.
7. Media Mainstream Strategy and Plan.
8. Social Media Strategy and Plan.
9. Two-Way Communication (e.g internal communication).
10. Timeframe and Implementation Plan.
11. Communication Templates (inc. GSM, Event Announcement, PPTs, Poster, Infographic, etc).


Knowledge, experiences and competencies

Relevant higher professional education level of working and thinking (Bachelor degree or equivalent).
3-5 years of work experience in the development and implementation of communication strategies, branding and visibility guidelines and standards.
Excellent skills in designing various communication products.
Work experience on peace and pluralism and/or art and culture based approach.
Work experience in an international environment is preferable. 
Excellent writing and organizational skills.
Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and partners.
Experience with campaigning, content management system and preferably image editing.
