Vacancy : Nutrition International : Business Development Consultancy for Indonesia

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CONSULTANCY

FOR INDONESIA

 

1.0). Rationale:

 

Nutrition International in Indonesia is registered as branch office of Global Nutrition International Office based in Ottawa. Nutrition International in Indonesia is registered under the Ministry of Health (Government Regulation no. 59/2016 by the President)

 

Nutrition International in Indonesia supports programs in:

1.       Maternal and Adolescent Nutrition to address stunting and wasting.

2.       Nutrition Governance

3.       Food Fortification

 

The Indonesian government currently holds a Presidency position of G-20 in 2022, and this has led many donors phasing out from the country, and even some of UN organizations taking out Indonesia as priority beneficiaries.  The current situation has disrupted the traditional funding landscape and pushed many NGOs to diversify and find alternative funding sources to sustain their impact.

 

Nutrition International (NI) is seeking a consultant for three months to support the NI country team to identify relevant in-country funding opportunities considering NI’s current legal status and strengthen NI’s positioning and engagement with identified donors and other relevant consortiums.  We are expecting that it will enable Nutrition International to diversify and widen their donor base.

 

2.0). Specific Objectives:

 

1). Support country director and the team to map out potential solicited and unsolicited funding opportunities for the next six months and beyond, considering the current legal status of NI in Indonesia.    Provide relevant support to the country director to priorities these opportunities, develop action plan and implement the plan.

 

2). Support country director with donor engagement by gathering relevant donor intelligence and developing customised materials like, presentation slides, idea notes etc.  Accompany country director to various donor meetings as appropriate and based on country director’s requests.

 

3). Support country director to strengthen NI’s positioning in Indonesia to avail relevant funding opportunities. Support country director to identify and prioritise opportunities to form strategic alliances and consortiums with relevant organisations including local NGOs, International NGOs, Private sector, and UN agencies.  Support country director and the team to identify relevant forums for NI to effectively participate and contribute to profile the organisation strategically.

 

4). Work along with relevant colleagues in the country programme, regional office, and HQs to develop high quality idea notes, concept notes and proposals in line with the prioritized solicited and unsolicited opportunities.

 

3.0). Key Deliverables:

 

1). At least five relevant funding opportunities are identified and researched that NI can pursue in the next six months.

2). At least 10-12 donor engagement activities are completed to strengthen NI’s engagement with at least five priority donors.

3). At least five relevant consortiums including local NGOs are identified, researched, and approached with appealing value propositions of NI. 

4). At least 5 new concept notes and proposals are submitted to relevant donors.

 

4.0). Duration of consultancy:

 

Initially for three months, that can be extended based on performance, requirement, and budget availability.   The consultant should have extensive contextual understanding of Business Development and funding landscape from INGO’s perspective.

 

5.0). Supervision and Performance Evaluation of the evaluator: The consultant will work under the overall supervision of the Country Director, Indonesia with matrix reporting to the Regional BD.

6.0). Experience and Eligibility:

1.       Individual Consultant

2.       Good knowledge of the nutrition sector in Indonesia

3.       Deep understanding of the donor landscape especially non-traditional donors.

4.       Understanding of funding and legal conditionalities, law of the land and rules to raise money.

5.       Good understanding of other actors and partners related to nutrition and related sectors in Indonesia.

6.       University degree in development studies, social sciences, economics, or a related field. Masters will be an asset.

 

7.0). Application Process
