Operations Manager - Jambi

Alam Bukit Tigapuluh, an independent national company. PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh is currently seeking the best candidate for the position of  Operations Manager. This position will be based in Jambi, and report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. 

About PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh:

PT Alam Bukit Tigapuluh (ABT) manages a 38,655 Ha Ecosystem Restoration Concession (ERC) in Tebo District in Jambi Province, aiming to both protect and restore rainforest landscapes and support the development of sustainable and regenerative business models in partnership with local communities. This ERC contains most of the remaining natural forest ecosystems within the buffer of the Bukit Tigapuluh National Park. Unfortunately, the area has not escaped illegal logging and encroachment activities, especially during the open access period between 2003 and 2015.    

Responsibilities:

The Operations Manager reports directly to the CEO of PT ABT and supports the CEO by leading and overseeing the day-to-day operations of each department to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the company to achieve its vision. The responsibilities include: 

• Oversee delivery of PT ABT’s operational targets across its key workstreams and coordinate work of company departments:
• Manage a team of operational departmental managers and coordinators, and report to PT ABT CEO
• Lead operational planning cycles and coordination with the finance team
• Lead preparation for quarterly PT ABT Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meetings (effectively ABT’s board)
• Oversee department level planning and support operational problem solving
• Oversee department operations in the field and facilitate cross-department collaboration and coordination to execute the joint workstreams.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and other government regulations & responsible business practices  
• Set up systems for tracking key metrics and reporting to CEO and TAG       

• Establish and oversee a structured and robust operational governance system by the company and the departments, including:
• Weekly/monthly/annual operational monitoring and reporting
• Clear decision-making escalation principles
• Key operational KPIs at department and company level
• Process for managing operational budgeting requests and reallocation where required
• Document updated processes in PT ABT SOP and policy documentation

• Influence landscape-level stakeholders for mutually beneficial landscape-level activities, e.g. joint-patrols, firefighting, and security gate SOPs
• In coordination with PT ABT CEO, build relationships with other BTP landscape concession owners if directly in support of PT ABT operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Preferred 10 years’ experience change-management and/or managerial experience in the industry, landscape management, and/or management consulting, with a minimum of 3 years experience.
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Assertive and able to work across the organization and with multiple functions
• Strategic thinking and problem solving
• High self-initiative, setting own goals with timely execution
• Languages: Bahasa Indonesia and English language skills 
• Able to effectively communicate (verbal, written, presentation skills) across diverse PT ABT departments and other stakeholders
• Demonstrated leadership and conflict resolution skills
• Strong commercial acumen 
• Comfortable working in the field for extended periods of time
• Working knowledge of forestry and non-timber forest business, environmental services, and/or conservation
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex organizations or multiple work teams.
