DESCRIPTION

JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world over the last forty years.

JSI is currently seeking an outstanding Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist in Indonesia for a portfolio of activities on the Country Health Information System and Data Use (CHISU) global cooperative agreement funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). CHISU is a 5-year program designed to enhance host country capacity to produce high-quality health information, to optimally manage this information, and to institutionalize evidence-based decision-making. The program works with USAID- supported host country health managers, health workers, and other stakeholders to strengthen the enabling environment of health information management and strategic planning in order to: improve harmonization of fragmented information systems, reduce duplication of data collection, and improve monitoring and tracking of a country’s own health trends and priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist will be responsible to provide effective branding, engagement and perception of the CHISU program that is targeted toward various stakeholder communities. He/she will be responsible to carry various methods to communicate with both its internal and external audiences, this will include to develop and disseminate of high quality communication products to USAID and the Ministry of Health of Indonesia at the national and subnational level. The Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist will work closely with USAID Indonesia communications team, as well as the Ministry of Health and Digital Transformation Office communications teams to ensure coordination on content development and release for maximum external impact. The Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, working closely with the global CHISU Communication Advisor and Knowledge Management Advisor.

This is anticipated to be a full-time position that will be based at Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Communications and Knowledge Management Specialist will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Responsible to implement the overall Communication and Knowledge Management strategies for an effective branding, engagement and perception of the CHISU program that is targeted toward various stakeholder communities.
  • Responsible to develop, and carry out the CHISU Indonesia Communications and Knowledge Management plan (CKM Plan). With routine inputs from technical team, updating the CKM Plan, as well as ensuring successful and timely communications input to high-quality project deliverables including work plans, reports, blogs/social media content, conference abstracts and posters, printed materials, and newsletters.
  • Manage the production cycle for communications products at the country level in Indonesia (print, digital, audio, and visual), including copyediting, layout/design, and printing. Write, edit, and format content, including knowledge management products, for a variety of platforms and audiences, including donors and partners.
  • Propose content for CHISU digital platforms (e.g., social media, blogs, and other web-based) to reach country and global audiences. Support the creation of necessary communications collateral in collaboration with the CHISU global team. Identify opportunities for media exposure to publicize CHISU Indonesia’s successes and achievements.
  • Provide support in developing and editing written material for initiatives such as media advisories, press releases, reports, publications, brochures, success stories and talking points as needed by the CHISU Indonesia team.
  • Document and provide ‘CHISU publication library’ for all communication products or publications (printed or digital) related with CHISU activities at national and sub-national level.
  • Assist in efforts related to procurement and development of visibility and promotional materials (prepare specifications, supervise design and production of materials).
  • Ensure all project activity and reporting material follows CHISU branding and marking for products developed at the country level. Provide technical advice, training and support to the project staff regarding compliance with CHISU’s branding and marking requirements.
  • Work closely with the CHISU global team to support the CHISU-Indonesia program’s participation in public events by producing communications products both in advance of any planned event and in particular, capitalizing on opportunities to create communications products during the event. Activities may include, but not be limited to, taking high-quality photos, undertaking brief interviews of participants to obtain quotes, and taking detailed session notes that can be used to produce high-quality communications products to demonstrate the value of the event.
  • Work closely with the MOH’s Center for Data and Information Technology (Pusdatin) and the DTO communication team so that CHISU activity results are documented and mentioned well in any partners' publication platforms.
  • Support coaching on strengthening organization internal and external communication in line with organizational development best practices. This includes serving as mentor/coach for program managers and technical teams at the national and sub-national level in communication and knowledge management.
  • Support management of the CHISU Indonesia technical activities file structure, support to the packaging of products, and documentation of process or lessons learned and promising practices.
  • Support conference abstract and article submissions in close coordination with the CHISU global team.
  • Maintain strong, collaborative, and supportive communication work at the intersection of country, partner, and global levels.
  • Serve as a liaison on behalf of CHISU for internal and external events as needed, supporting institutional communication efforts in collaboration with Government counterparts.
  • Travel to project sites as needed to develop information for communications and knowledge products; conduct interviews with partners and project beneficiaries. Take high-quality photographs while on project sites, and draft and/or edit communications and knowledge products upon return that demonstrate the value provided by the CHISU Indonesia,
  • Package and facilitate the translation of complex information into easy to read and easy to use formats.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The successful candidate will have bachelor or master’s degree in Communications, Public Administration, Social Sciences or related field.
  • A minimum of five years’ professional experience in communications, public health, development, or related fields, demonstrated expertise working with teams to use communications to tell stories.
  • Work experience with USAID and familiarity with USAID branding, marking, and protocols is preferable.
  • Ability to craft visual products using both widely accessible (e.g., Office Suite, Google Workspace) and more specialized (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Miro, Kahoot, Mentimeter, Figma, Canva, etc) software.
  • Have knowledge or received specific training on communication and knowledge management, for example graphic design, information design, ect.
  • Team player with strong written and oral communication skills focused on helping teams and projects succeed.
  • Well-organized, good time management skills, proactive, able to balance multiple activities, and a culturally and institutional sensitive communicator.
  • Fluent in English and Indonesian.

Salary commensurate with experience.
