OXFAM Consultancy Recruitment - Researcher on Community Level Activism for Change

We need a:
Consultant forResearch on Community Level Activism for Change
Oxfam works show that there are a large number of women and slowly increasing number of men across society become active and vocal advocates of gender justice. They are volunteering their time and resources to organization or alliance working to promote gender justice in Indonesia. Despite the fact that the massive involvement of women and men in the society triggered wider community activism, there is currently anecdotal understanding of why people across society in Indonesia are joining efforts to promote gender justice. This research is an attempt to systematically document and analyze these experiences so that we can better support and promote them.

Objectives
1.    To understand why individual women and men involve in the movement to promote gender justice
2.    To use the information as a basis for future strategy to support the further development of the gender justice organization and movement
3.  To support gender justice partners to improve the way in which they appreciate and engage with the individual member/change agent

TheReseacher Qualification:
Researcher
·         Graduate / master degree in sociology,  gender and development or social studies
·         Minimum 5 years experience of conducting social research
·         Has experience working with Civil Society Organizations or women’s organizations
·         Have good knowledge of the women’s movement for gender justice in Indonesia.
·         Demonstrated experience in social research and analysis
·         Written and verbal fluency in Bahasa Indonesia
·         English language skills are desirable

Co- researcher
·         Bachelor degree in sociology, law, or social studies
·         Minimum 2 years experience of conducting social research
·         Has experience working with Civil Society or women's organizations
·         Have good knowledge of the women’s movement or gender justice movement in Indonesia

Task and responsibility
·         The researcher will facilitate the initial workshop with Oxfam GJ partners to develop/clarify research objective, develop a research methodology and select the research locations
·         Collect information/data from the field through the agreed methodology
·         Data analysis
·         Report Writing
·         Presenting finding in a mini workshop to gain inputs, comment from Oxfam and partners

Ethical Consideration
The researcher and all parties who are involved in this research should consider the well being and human rights of the research participant as non-negotiable matters.  All information, pictures, or any images of person produce in this research should gain informed consent. The researcher will sign the Oxfam Code of Conduct for Non-Staff as part of the agreement and require to adhere with OXFAM’s guidelines on ethical research.
