GIS Consultants Needed for Emergency Preparedness Program in Nias and Mentawai

SurfAid International is a nonprofit organization working for healthy andresilient communities in remote areas connected to us through surfing. Withthe head office in Medan, the community programs are mainly run in Mentawaiand Nias. We are currently looking for GIS Consultants to work under consultancy basis for 3 months.

GIS SPECIALIST (RISK MAPPING AND ANALYSIS)

Support Emergency Preparedness program in doing riskmapping,
including compilation, analysis, and development of the map. Using
community particpatory approach and collaborative partnership with
other DRR stakeholders, the consultant will be involved in
community capacity strenghtening activities toward emergency
preparedness.

Minimum requirements:
•    Minimum University Degree preferably in Computer science, Geodesic, Geography or a combination of relevant education and
professional experience. Master degree is an advantage.
•    Minimum of four years of experience in the use of MS
software, web-based and/or client-server database system
implementations a distinctive advantage.
•    Familiarity with Disaster Risk Reduction issues and
Indonesian Spatial Data and Disaster Management Laws.
•    Demonstrated strong result in area of GIS, information
management, data analysis and spatial data management system.
•    Solid understanding of GIS software including open source
software (e.g. ArcGIS, Quantum GIS, etc).
•    Advanced knowledge of MS Excel for data analysis and
statistical reporting.
•    Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia both written and
spoken is required. Working knowledge of Aceh and Nias island is
an advantage.

GIS ASSISTANT
Supporting GIS Specialist, GIS  Assistant will be in charge of
collecting secondary and tertiary data collection for Risk Map
development. GIS Assistant will also liaise with local government
and other stakeholders to ensure  Disaster Management Plan is
properly prepared and submitted.

Minimum requirements:
•    University Degree preferably in Computer science, Geodesic, Geography or a combination of relevant education and professional
experience.
•    A minimum of  two years of experience in the use of MS
software, web-based and/or client-server database system
implementations a distinctive advantage.
•    Preferably familiar with Disaster Risk Reduction issues and
Indonesian Spatial Data and Disaster Management Laws.
•    Understand GIS software including open source software (e.g.
ArcGIS, Quantum GIS, etc).
•    Advanced knowledge of MS Excel for data analysis and
statistical reporting.
•    Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia both written and
spoken is required. Working knowledge of Aceh and Nias island is
an advantage.
