Vacancy @Conservation International: Blue Carbon & MPA Project Officer (BCPO)

We are constantly growing and expanding into areas new and old. We are currently looking to fill the following position for our office in Jakarta:
Blue Carbon & MPA Project Officer (BCPO)
CI Indonesia’s ‘blue carbon’ program aims to develop effective conservation strategies for the protection of carbon-rich coastal ecosystems, including mangroves and seagrasses. West Papua contains up to half of Indonesia’s mangroves and is therefore a matter of high importance.  Under the auspices of the Bird Head Seascape, CII has created a working field demonstration at Arguni Bay, Buruway, Etna Bay under Kaimana Regency.  The Blue Carbon and MPA Project Officer will primarily be responsible in Blue Carbon related project and activities including but not limited to; Climate change, Fisheries, Mangrove and MPA management, and also supporting the Blue Carbon Coordinator.  He/she will participate in all relevant national and local level Blue Carbon activities, including working with relevant government agencies and NGOs to advance policy and coastal planning frameworks to maximize blue carbon conservation in Indonesia also supporting the MPA management.
Key Duty / Responsibility:
1.    Support CII’s Blue Carbon project and activities, including field implementation, monitoring, documenting data, and reporting.
2.    Support the coordinator to on-ground Blue Carbon and other related works with the CI Kaimana Team.
3.  Support CI’s blue carbon partnerships and collaborations to support BC in Indonesia with community, scientific, non-government, and government groups.
4.    Contribute to climate-related national policy development by participating in relevant forum.
5.   Support other ongoing blue carbon and climate related projects such as; peat, mangroves, fisheries, communities, aquaculture, etc. projects.

Qualifications:
Education:
·         Degree in science, natural resource management and/or environmental engineering.
·         Strong ability to engage effectively with scientists and policy-makers.
·         Demonstrated ability to support project management, support fieldwork, maintain existing partnerships and collaborations.

Preferred/Desirable:
·         Knowledge in climate change issues.
·         Experience in policy-analysis esp. climate and MPA management related policies.
·         Experience in market-based approaches to conservation, community-based conservation, and protected area conservation framework.
·         Experience working in remote locations and/or conduct fieldwork.
·         Ability to work well with limited supervision, and coordinate remotely with field programs
