The Local Stakeholder Engagement Officer (LSEO) will be based at Mercy
Corps Indonesia’s office in Ambon and travel occasionally within Indonesia.
S/he will support the NZMATES team in building relationships with stakeholders
in Ambon and elsewhere in Indonesia and communicating the work of NZMATES,
while also providing guidance to the team on local context, cultural norms,
political dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
S/he will take a proactive approach to building a network of local
stakeholders and fostering good relationships with government, the private
sector, civil society, and Universities, and provide logistical and translation
support to stakeholder meetings. The LSEO will work closely with the Programme
Manager to support with liaising with key players and translation services.
The LSEO will also lead communications work at NZMATES, through website
updates, social media, and media engagement. S/he will support the NZMATES team
with guidance on local context, advice on political dynamics and regulatory
frameworks, including permits, policies, formal and customary law. S/he will
also provide in-country briefings for any international visitors.
Qualifications:

University Degree in
communications, social sciences, law, business, or similar field;
·
Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications, socio-economic
development and/or related fields;
·
Strong communications skills, networking, and experience
working as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
·
Experience engaging, networking, and communicating with
government officials;
·
Experience engaging and communicating with civil society,
educational institutions, and private sector stakeholders;
·
Ability to foster positive and effective working
relationships with variety of stakeholders;
·
Experience with website content management, social media, and
media engagement;
·
Experience working in Maluku province and understanding of
local context;
·
Fluency in English verbal and written communication;
·
Proactive and able to take initiative;
·
Ability to anticipate and solve problems; meet deadlines,
work under pressure, work independently on multiple tasks with limited
supervision, work cooperatively with team members and partners;
·
Strong familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media
and website content management;
·
Willingness to travel occasionally to Jakarta, Seram and
other locations within Indonesia;
·
Experience working in socio-economic development, energy
access or environment sector preferred.
